The Eaton Spartans Senior Boys' Basketball Team won their 1A Boys Conference Playoffs held on March 7, 2020.  By winning three straight games at the conference championship, the boys earned first place and a chance to compete at regionals.  The Spartans, many of whom also played on the Provincial-winning football team, proved once again that their team work, dedication, and athleticism could pay off.  

On Friday night the boys' first game was against Maymont.  While Maymont proved to be a fiesty and enthusiastic team, the Spartans were able to pull out to a strong first quarter lead which they maintained for the rest of the game.  The Spartans won their first game 101-21 with top scorers being Richie Adams from Eatonia with 16 points, and James Armistead from Maymont with 14 points.

Saturday morning saw the boys play their second game against Langham.  This was a tight back and forth game with Eatonia finally managing to pull away a bit in the second half to ultimately take the game 86-67.  Top Scorers from each team were Jackson Schuh & Turner Somerville from Eatonia both with 13 points and Derek Neufeld from Langham with 25 points.

The Spartans' final game was against a tough team from Mistawasis.  Both teams were fired up and determined to earn that first place spot.  Nevertheless it was the Spartans who managed to pull ahead and earn a 69-48 victory.  Top scorers were Turner Somerville from Eatonia with 22 points and Konnor Johnstone from Mistawasis with 17 points.

With the Spartan's victory in the final they earned a fourth place ranking inthe province and the right to host a regional championship on March 14.  Unfortunately due to 2020 job sanctions and the COVID-19 crisis the remainder of the basketball season could not be held.
